FACULTY OF LAW, MARWADI UNIVERSITY, IN ASSOCIATION WITH RAJKOT BAR ASSOCIATION HELD A SEMINAR ON ‘RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN INDIAN LEGAL SYSTEM’.
On 23rd February 2019, Faculty of Law, Marwadi University, & Rajkot Bar Association joined hands to host a seminar for Law professionals, creating a great platform to exchange ideas and get insight on the subject of ‘Recent Developments in Indian Legal Systems’ from luminaries like Hon’ble Mr. Justice C. K. Thakkar, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India who was the Chief-Guest, and Guests of Honour, Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. P. Bhatt, President of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi. R. Tripathi, Former Judge, High Court of Gujarat, Ms. Geeta Gopi, Principal District Judge, Rajkot, and Mr. Abhay Bhardwaj, Attorney-at-Law, Rajkot.
All dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Naresh Jadeja, Registrar, Marwadi University who said that this union was a first step towards creating a great learning platform for Law students and Law practitioners from eminent and scholarly leaders of the field. Mr. Ketan Marwadi, Founder & President of Marwadi University said that it was a privilege for the university to host this seminar which will prove to be the first step in the direction of becoming knowledge partners with the legal masterminds whose insights will be a great inspiration for the students of Faculty of Law. He also agreed with Mr. Abhay Bhardwaj who stated that ‘Law is a profession which allows you to give back to the society’. Mr. Jitendra Chandarana, Co-founder and Vice-President, Marwadi University welcomed the dignitaries and extended his best wishes to the law fraternity.
More than 500 lawyers across Rajkot have enrolled in this seminar. In her inaugural address, Ms. Geeta Gopi shed light on some of the emerging sides of law like ‘Rights of Victims to defend themselves’ & the psychological and counselling help for the victims. She said that this was a great step towards progress of society.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi. R. Tripathi acknowledged the great role of proper educational infrastructure such as Marwadi University which will nurture the law aspirants to become the best. He shared his hope of seeing continuous interaction between the academia and the industry through discussions, debates, seminars and conferences, bringing out the best in both.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. P. Bhatt was a source of knowledge and inspiration. He was optimistic that this seminar was a landmark event, sowing the seeds of a bright future for all lawyers. He added that Marwadi University, by hosting this seminar, has extended its hand towards a promising future for all lawyers who are seeking a state-of-the-art platform for making a career in law. He pointed out the topics which would be under discussion in the seminar would be focused on changes in RERA, AADHAR, LIVE-STREAMING OF COURT PROCEEDINGS, NALSA, and was hopeful that all these changes will usher in a fresh and transparent outlook.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice C. K. Thakkar filled the auditorium with his positive stance regarding the amalgamation of university & law-professionals. He stated that law is one of the most dynamic profession that requires lawyers to be continuous learners. ‘Lawyers are students for life, he said.’
Dr. Rhishikesh Dave, Dean, Faculty of Law, Marwadi University concluded the inauguration ceremony with a vote of thanks to his entire team, all lawyer delegates and Mr. Bakul Rajani, President, Rajkot Bar Association. He expressed his sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries for making this seminar a huge success. He held that this seminar was one giant leap in the direction of mutual growth for both; the law aspirants and the law savants.
