Message From The Dean

Agriculture is the backbone of our country and the major segment of our population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. The Government of India has supported Agricultural Education and Research through their successive five-year plan, thereby achieving green revolution which resulted in a significant jump in the agriculture production. India’s Green Revolution programme went a long way in making India self-sufficient in wheat and rice production. Today we have great challenges to overcome therefore, there is a tremendous scope for agricultural development in India.

Marwadi University’s B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture is our foray into creating the finest agriculture professionals for the country. With the support of profound academicians, a superlative top management and industrial contacts we will make a mark in this prestigious profession. Marwadi University is emphasizing more on practical work compared to classroom teaching. The students of faculty of Agriculture Science go through the following practical work:

  1. Rural Awareness Works Experience (RAWE)
  2. Experiential Learning Programme (ELP)
  3. Training about Practical Crop Production

After pursuing the degree of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture one can build a career in either, private or public sector. One can pursue MBA in Agricultural Business Management or M.Sc. (Agri.) or Ph.D. in specialized subjects of Agricultural Science.

Objectives

The course of B. Sc. ( Hons. ) Agriculture at Marwadi University is designed to fulfill the following objectives:

  • To acquire requisite knowledge, skill and attitudes to deal with existing and emerging challenges of the agricultural sector.
  • To motivate the students towards innovative thinking.
  • To develop strong leadership, interpersonal team-building and entrepreneurial skills required to identify and utilize opportunities in agriculture science.
  • To obtain solid ground in scientific as well as technical principles
  • To provide practical in-field knowledge in agricultural science.

  • One can build a career in either, private or public sector after pursuing the degree of B. Sc. (Hons.)  Agriculture .
  • Students have tremendous scope in industries like Pesticides, Fertilizers, Seeds, Micro irrigation, Tractor, Agro based industries etc.
  • Agro processing units, Export-import units, banking sector.
  • Plant tissue culture labs.
  • Cold storage units.
  • One can pursue MBA in Agriculture Business Management, M. Sc. (Agri.) and Ph.D. in specialized subjects for better future.
  • Whatever the option, opportunities are plenty.

Outcomes

After completion of this course, the students will be able to;

Eligibility
Criteria

  • To enroll in this course, strong foundation in science is must. This is because throughout the course different components of science have to be studied to study agricultural science
  • The admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture in Marwadi University is based on the marks that you have scored in your Higher Secondary Certificate exam. There is no entrance test for the course of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture.
