Out of the box thinking for clean and sustainable environment providing Smart Solution

[fusion_text] Gujarat, a land of wonders has given birth to numerous innovations in the recent days. A state of diverse culture has led to its beautification through industrialization, agricultural growth and overall development under the chairmanship of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who was the former Chief Minister of Gujarat. He has guided the province towards prosperity in various sectors where industrialization, in particular, has boosted up the most. Industries such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, gems, and jewellery, etc. have earned success in many terms, inclusive of economy earned in the state. But, what lacks amongst the people is the awareness about how to help the government in providing a clean and sustainable environment.

Rajkot Smart City Hackathon was launched on 25 June 2015 in lieu of promoting sustainable cities aiding to give decent lifestyle to its residents. This initiative is taken for the young minds and aspirants who would present realistic technological solutions to such problems faced by the city of Rajkot. This district is as precious as an emerald for Gujarat. Rajkot provides a platform for diverse industries. It is the business hub of the state as the surrounding districts namely, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Botad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Morbi, Kutch and Gir Somnath, all diverge their trade into this city. In addition to this, Rajkot gives a place to many other industries such as automobile industry, jewellery and silk industry, gold markets and much more.

To maintain Rajkot’s high reputation, social issues that pose difficulties to its resident must be resolved by engineering ‘Smart’ solutions. Problems possessed by Rajkot are in the form of Education, School & midday meals,Sanitation, Traffic & Transportation, Health department, and many more. Just after the students draft solution to such issues, the next thing would be its implementation in favour of the town. In return, the government furnishes with a futuristic vision to make the state sustainable. The students have to think out of the box and present the smartest and the most innovative solution to the problem of their choice. Considering the example of the problem statements devised in the department of Water Management has offered six critical issues. It includes Water leakage identification, A solution for water contamination, Identify illegal water connection, Alert system for direct pumping in water distribution, Water pollution in Aji River and Tanker management. If the students think innovatively in a unique direction for such problems and offer solutions to them, this can help the city in many terms. It can reduce water usage and its cost, it helps to conserve water that can be used in my other areas, or it can also purify the water bodies that are reachable to many lives, and many such solutions. And in a similar way, Rajkot and its residents can be benefitted through the solutions devised by the participants of Hackathon. The students can invent a solution using technologies viz. Websites, mobile-friendly applications, alert systems, IR sensors, control sensors, auto-rectifying mechanisms. Under the leadership of Shri Banchha Nidhi Pani, Municipal Commissioner, of Rajkot and event organizer as well as education partner Marwadi University, they have righteously initiated the smart movement.Marwadi University has volunteered itself to become a part of this big event. MU- the No.1 University in Rajkot has made its students participate in bringing the ideal digital technology innovations.
