What are the hostel facilities provided by Marwadi University?
The hostel provides the following facilities:
- A cot with a cushion, mattress, two bedsheets, and two pillow covers.
- A chair, table, and cupboard for storage.
- Catering facilities including breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner.
- Free laundry service (one pair of clothes daily, weekly towel washing, and thrice a month bedsheet/pillow cover wash).
- RO filtered water, hot water geysers, and cooling provisions.
- Gym, indoor sports rooms, and common TV rooms.
- Newspapers, magazines, and periodic activities like yoga, meditation, and various talent competitions.
What is the fee structure for hostel accommodation?
The hostel fee structure for the academic year 2024-25 varies based on room type (AC/non-AC) and sharing (2/4/6/8 sharing). Fees can be paid annually or in two instalments. Refer to Annexure A in the Student Undertaking document for detailed fee breakdowns.
Are hostel fees refundable?
No, hostel fees are non-refundable once paid, except at the discretion of the management. Fees are applicable for the entire academic term, even if the student leaves the hostel early.
Can I stay in the hostel during vacations?
Hostels are generally closed during vacations (Diwali Vacation, and Summer Vacation). However, students may request permission to stay for project work or other academic purposes, subject to additional charges and management approval..
What are the rules regarding room allocation and vacating the hostel?
- Students must vacate their rooms at the end of each academic year.
- Rooms must be handed over to the warden in good condition.
- Students are responsible for any damage to the room or its inventory.
- Failure to vacate on time may result in a penalty of Rs. 550 per day.
Can I change my room or hostel during the academic year?
The management reserves the right to shift students to another room or hostel for operational reasons. No refunds will be provided for such changes.
What are the rules for guests and visitors?
- Guests are not allowed to stay in the hostel rooms.
- Visitors can meet students only in the reception area between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
- All visitors must sign the visitor register at the security desk.
Are there any restrictions on personal belongings in the hostel?
- Students are advised not to keep expensive items like jewellery, cash, or valuables in their rooms.
- MEF is not responsible for the loss, theft, or misplacement of personal belongings.
What are the rules regarding discipline and conduct in the hostel?
- Consumption of alcohol, smoking, and possession of illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
- Ragging, unethical behaviour, and any form of harassment are not allowed and may lead to expulsion.
- Students must follow all hostel rules and regulations, including noise restrictions and curfew timings.
What happens if I damage hostel property?
Students are responsible for any damage to hostel property, including furniture and fittings. They will be required to pay for repairs or replacements as determined by MEF.
Can I use electrical appliances in my room?
The use of heating appliances like heaters, induction stoves, and water heating rods is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in penalties and confiscation of the appliance.
What is the process for reporting issues or complaints?
- Students can report issues or complaints to the warden or the Chief Warden. Disciplinary matters are handled by the Hostel Grievance Committee.
Are there any rules for vehicles in the hostel?
- Only one two-wheeler per student is allowed in the designated parking area.
- Four-wheelers are not permitted without written permission from the management.
- Students must follow all traffic rules, including wearing helmets while driving.
What is the mess policy?
- Mess facilities are compulsory for all hostel students.
- The menu is decided by the student representative committee and the canteen owner.
- Students must adhere to mess timings and maintain discipline in the dining area.
What are the rules for leaving the campus?
- Students must obtain a gate pass approved by the warden to leave the campus.
- They must check-in and check-out at the main gate using biometric attendance.
- Late returns without permission may result in disciplinary action.
What happens if I lose my room key?
In case of lost keys, students must inform the warden or maintenance staff immediately. Only authorized staff are permitted to break open locks, and students may be charged for replacement keys.
Are there any medical facilities for hostel students?
In case of illness or medical emergencies, students must report to the warden. The hostel provides conveyance to approved hospitals, and parents/local guardians are immediately informed.
Can I organize social gatherings or parties in the hostel?
No private social gatherings or celebrations are allowed without prior written permission from the Hostel Head. Unauthorized parties may result in penalties.
What are the consequences of violating hostel rules?
Violations of hostel rules may lead to penalties, disciplinary action, or even expulsion from the hostel. Serious offenses like ragging or possession of illegal substances may result in legal action.
How can I apply for hostel accommodation?
Students can apply for hostel accommodation during the admission process. All applications must be approved by MEF in writing.
