Remembering the ‘Second Parents’ of your life on Teacher’s Day

॥ गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः । गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥

You have heard this shlok many times. You might have recited it as well. But have you ever truly realised its meaning? This Teacher’s Day, let us have a sneak peek at the same.

Teachers:

For a while, dwell into your childhood and try to remember your kindergarten days. When your parents dropped you at your school and you’d cry after that, who comforted you? When you’d bring light snacks in your tiffin box, who’d scold you for not bringing something more fulfilling? And when you had a fight with that bad boy of your class, who made sure that you become friends with him? It was your teacher.

Thus, they are the second parents of a child. Even now, in your college, your professors are always there to guide you. They know understand who you are, just like your parents. Hence, they can help you well.

Well, the teacher’s day is celebrated to honour these parents. Historically, it is the birth anniversary of India’s second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

A learned scholar himself, he was of the opinion that ‘Teachers should be the best minds in the country’. In his career as a President and as a Professor, he achieved great respect from the world.

Why do you need a teacher in your life?

In India, it is often said that a Guru must be given prime importance in one’s life. In fact, teachers have been considered equal to parents, always. These simple-looking individuals contribute a great deal to your life.

From teaching alphabets to helping you achieve your career goal, your teachers have always been there to help you and guide you. Your favorite teacher has also heard about your problems and has given sensible solutions to get through them.

Do you remember the day when your small act of kindness was appreciated by your teacher? It had made you so proud of yourself! Also, we are sure you have numerous instances wherein your teacher has boosted your moral and filled you with a new wave of confidence.

They have scolded you when your marks were poor but they have helped you in many ways to increase them. They have punished you multiple times but have also made you a better person at that very moment. They have warned you if you have chosen a wrong path but on the other hand, have always encouraged you to take the road not taken.

Be it in your school life, college life, or even after the phases after it, your teacher will stick with you. Your friends might leave but your teachers will always be there to beckon you. So, hold the hand of your teacher and walk through the path of dark roads. We bet you will never lose your way.

Wishing a very happy Teacher’s Day to all the wonderful teachers!
