EDUCATIONAL
OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this curriculum is to delineate the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills deemed essential for the completion of this programme. At the completion of this course, the student should be –

  1. Able to perform as a competent physiotherapist who will be able to examine, evaluate, diagnose, plan, execute and document physiotherapy treatment independently or along with the multidisciplinary team.
  2. Able to evaluate patients for impairments and functional limitations and able to execute all routine physiotherapeutic procedures as per the evaluation.
  3. Able to operate and maintain physiotherapy equipment used in the treatment of a patient, Physiotherapy treatment planning (both electrotherapy and exercise therapy) & procedures independently.
  4. Able to provide patient education about various physiotherapeutic interventions to the patient and caregivers.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • As per the rules of Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses of Gujarat and/or Government of Gujarat
  • A candidate applying for the degree of B.P.T being eligible for admission to the Physiotherapy College affiliated to UGC recognised University must have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination recognised by any Indian University or a duly constituted Board and passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

Or

  • Candidates who have studied abroad and have passed the equivalent examination as per the guidelines of the Association of Indian Universities to determine the eligibility and must have passed in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English up to 12th Standard level.
  • He /She has attained the age of 17 years as on 31st December of the concerned year.
  • He/she should furnish at the time of submission of the application form, a certificate of Physical fitness from a registered medical practitioner that the candidate is physically fit to undergo a Physiotherapy course.
  • A candidate fulfilling the above requirements will be provisionally admitted in the First Year of B.P.T Degree Programme, as per the rules of Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses of Gujarat and/or Government of Gujarat.

EXPECTATIONS FROM THE FUTURE PHYSIOTHERAPY GRADUATES

  1. Coursework entitles independent physiotherapy assessment and treatment by the graduates.
  2. The coursework is designed to train students to work as independent physiotherapists or in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose and treat movement dysfunctions as per red and yellow flags.
  3. The course will develop skills in the graduate’s physical & functional diagnosis, treatment planning, management, and administration of physiotherapy treatment for patient support.
  4. Graduates can find employment opportunities in Hospitals/Nursing homes/Sports Teams/Fitness Centers/Health club/ Schools, including pre-schools and special schools/Research-Center/Community Rehabilitation /Health planning boards/Health promotions services/Academic institute in both private and public sectors as well as in independent physiotherapy clinics.
  5. Physiotherapy graduate is encouraged to pursue further qualification to attain a senior position in the professional field and to keep abreast with the recent advances, new technology, and research. The professional should opt for continuous professional education credits offered by national and international institutes.
  6. The graduate will be a competent and reflective physiotherapy practitioner who can function safely and effectively while adhering to legal, ethical, and professional standards of practice in a multitude of physiotherapy settings for patients and clients across the lifespan and along the continuum of care from wellness and prevention to rehabilitation of dysfunction.
  7. The graduate will utilise critical inquiry and evidence-based practice to make clinical decisions essential for autonomous practice.
  8. The graduate will function as an active member of professional and community organizations. The graduate will be a service-oriented advocate dedicated to the promotion and improvement of community health.
  9. The graduate will demonstrate a lifelong commitment to learning and professional development.

Principal’s Message

It is my pleasure to introduce the Faculty of Physiotherapy at Marwadi University –Rajkot. Physiotherapists are key players in the health care delivery system in India today. They help in restoring and improving movements, keeping patients healthy, fit and active thereby improving the quality of life. They also play an important role in avoiding surgery and long term use of medications.

  • DR. JAYESHBHAI PARMAR
    DR. JAYESHBHAI PARMAR PRINCIPAL

    Specialisation: MPT – CARDIOPULMONARY CONDITIONS

    He has completed his PhD in 2016 and He is recognized Guide in PhD. He has done his Hospital Management from Saurashtra University in 2008. He secured first rank in Pune university in his masters. He did his MPT from Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Pune,Pune University in 2006. Dr Jayesh parmar has done his BPT from very reputed MS University Baroda in 2002
    He was working as a senior lecturer and Principal in Government Physiotherapy College Jamnagar. He has taught various subjects to more than 1000 students till date. He has taken part in Board of Studies in various universities for Physiotherapy. He has attended and taken part in various state and national level conferences. He has presented more than 5 research publications in reputed journals.
    He has served Physiotherapy treatment for many patients during his 15 years experiences. He has specialized interests in Rehabilitation of COPD patients.

  • Dr. Radhika Pande
    Dr. Radhika Pande Assistant Professor

    Specialisation: MPT – PAEDIATRICS

    She has done Masters in Paediatric Physiotherapy from the Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedic and Rahabilitation, Pune in 2007. Her BPT was awarded in 2002 from Ravi Nair Physitherapy College, Wardha.
    Her area of interest is neurodevelopmental therapy and sensory integration. She has attended many national and international workshops in the field of neurodevelopmental therapy and sensory integration.
    She was associated with Rainbow group of Paediatric Hospitals at Secunderabad as a Consultant Physiotherapist. She has helped many children in rehabilitation of cerebral palsy and child developmental disorders.

  • Dr. Yagnik Dave
    Dr. Yagnik Dave Assistant Professor

    Specialisation: MPT – CARDIOPULMONARY CONDITIONS

    He is a PhD scholar in research at saurashtra university. He has completed his bachelor and master degree from Saurashtra university. He has published more than 3 publication in national and international journals.
    He has taken part in Board of studies for Physiotherapy. He has specialized interests in Rehabilitation of Cardiopulmonary and respiratory disorder patients. He has attended and taken part in various state and national level conferences. He has presented various poster and paper in physiotherapy conphycs.

  • Dr. Gauravgiri Gosai
    Dr. Gauravgiri Gosai Assistant Professor

    Specialisation: MPT – Muscukoskeletal conditions and Sports

    “He is pursuing PhD in research area of core muscles from Marwadi University. He has completed his Master and Bachelor degree from Saurashtra University.
    He has specialised interest in treatment of low back pain patients and in research on core muscles.”

  • Dr. Anjali Acharya
    Dr. Anjali Acharya Clinical Physitherapist

    She has completed her bachelor degree from saurashtra university. She has treated many patients of musculo-skeletal,Neurological and paediatric patients. She has taken part in various regional and national level conferences. She is interested in rehabilitation of musculo-skeletal, geriatic and paediatric patients.

Every year, we have around 150+ renowned companies visiting Marwadi University for campus recruitment. The education and training that we receive at Marwadi University give us an edge in the market. We are so well trained by our Learning and development department and Placement cell who work hand-in-hand, equipping us with all 21st-century skills. I was recruited in campus interview and currently, I am placed in Bangalore for my internship training. Thanks to Marwadi University, I have begun very well – and as they say, ‘Well begun is half done’, right?

I joined Marwadi University in 2015. From that day my journey to grow and thrive began. My faculty has played a pivotal role in carving my destiny. Our ‘Learning and Development Department’ trained us with 21st-century soft skills – a must in today’s jobmarket. Thank you, Noor Ali Sir, you made our language classes stimulating. Through our Marwadi Placement Department I started my career as a subordinate in Zomato – but thanks to the skills I learned at Marwadi – within 21 days I was promoted to the post of a regional manager in ‘Zomato’. And my package is a whopping 6 lakh+.  Thank you, MU and the placement cell, – who helped me at every juncture.
