MUN 2023

The National Model United Nations (MUN) Competition, organized by the MUN & Debate Committee of the Faculty of Law, Marwadi University, took place on November 4th and 5th, 2023. This event was a platform for high school students and students up to the graduation level from various schools and universities across India to engage in a simulated United Nations environment and discuss important global and national issues. The competition aimed to enhance students’ diplomatic, negotiation, and public speaking skills.

The official language for all United Nations committees was English, allowing participants to showcase their proficiency in the international diplomatic language. In the case of Indian committees, both English and Hindi were accepted, reflecting the multilingual diversity of India. Furthermore, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly committee accommodated discussions in Gujarati, Hindi, and English, promoting inclusivity and fostering a comprehensive understanding of local issues

The competition featured a total of 12 committees, each focusing on specific global or national issues. Participants were assigned to particular committees and were required to represent either a country (for international committees) or a politician (for Indian committees). These delegates actively engaged in discussions surrounding their committee’s agenda, proposing solutions, and debating policy issues.

The National Model United Nations Competition saw an impressive turnout, with over 240 enthusiastic delegates from across the country. This diverse group of students brought a wealth of perspectives and backgrounds, contributing to the depth and richness of the discussions during the event. The competition provided a valuable opportunity for young minds to learn about the intricacies of international diplomacy and to foster skills that will serve them well in the future.
